  • Free resit

    You have requested a free resit and will receive a code and instructions by email to re-register after having completed the questions below.

  • Would you like to resit your IELTS test in the same location you originally took your test?*

  • Taiwan

    Please log in to the Taiwan Test Taker Service Website to submit your application (use the email address you registered with for IELTS):

    1. Select “Test-Related Service Application”
    2. Find your “Test Record”
    3. Click your “Reference Number”
    4. At the bottom of the page, you will see the “Refund Application” button
    ✔ For the refund reason, please select “Reason 1”.
    ✔ Please save this email as a PDF file and upload it as supporting documentation for your refund.

  • Bank transfer refunds

    To receive your refund, please provide your bank details. Once your request has been processed, please allow 60 working days for the funds to appear in your account.

    The British Council cannot make payments to banks or other financial institutions sanctioned by the UK or any other relevant jurisdiction. Please do not request payment to a sanctioned bank or financial institution. If you do, you will be asked to nominate an alternative account that does not breach sanctions. 

  • Hong Kong / Macau

    Please send your request directly by email to examinations@britishcouncil.org.hk without filling the form.
  • The bank account must be in your own name. If you do not have a bank account in your own name, please provide the reason (eg because your are under 18) and your relationship to the account holder (eg you are their son/daughter).

  • Data protection

    British Council complies with data protection law in the UK and laws in other countries that meet internationally accepted standards.

    The British Council will use the information that you are providing in connection with processing your refund/transfer of date. The legal basis for processing your information is agreement with our terms and conditions of registration (contract). In certain cases we may ask for health related information, based on your consent. 

    You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold on you, and the right to ask us to correct any inaccuracies in that information by contacting us at exam.support@britishcouncil.org

    If you have concerns about how we have used your personal information, you also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator.

    For detailed information, please refer to the privacy section of our website or contact your local British Council office. We will keep your information for a period of 10 years from the time of collection apart from health-related information which we will keep only until your refund has been processed/the date your test has been transferred to.
